The working advocacy group on the national ratification on International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) had met up with senior officers of the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN), Prime Minister Department. This meeting is the start for a quicker action on combating racial discrimination in Malaysia. The working group is led by Jerald Joseph, Director of Pusat KOMAS together with 9 other groups (SUARAM, PROHAM, Bar Council Human Rights Committee, Projek Dialog, Islamic Renaissance Front, Komuniti Muslim Universal, Lawyers for Liberty, Tenaganita, Aliran, Akademi Belia, Malaysians for Malaysia and KITA, UKM).

The working advocacy group had presented the Malaysia Racial Discrimination Report 2015 to JPNIN, discuss the plans for the status of the ratification of ICERD in Malaysia, national action plan, the status of the National Unity Consultative Council Blueprint and the National Harmony Act. The meeting was productive and both JPNIN and the working group are keen to work together in order to further combat racial discrimination in Malaysia.
