Pusat KOMAS regrets the passing of the firefighter Muhammad Adib Kassim. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Muhammad Adib. The passing of Muhammad Adib is a great loss for all Malaysians.

The incident that had taken place around the Seafield temple should not have happened in the first place. Any form of violence should never be condoned and the law shall apply to all perpetrators of violence involved in the incidents linked to the temple issue.

In the wake of the passing of Muhammad Adib Kassim, we urge everyone to remain calm and to allow the authorities to investigate the incident. All parties regardless of race or ethnicity should cease allowing anger to take over. We should allow the rule of law to take its place. We urge the authorities to take immediate actions to ensure that the perpetrators of this incident to be brought to justice.

Pusat KOMAS also urges the authorities to provide full disclosure and updates on the investigation of the incidents in order to stem any misperception that may arise.

This nation that was built through different ethnic groups over time. At this moment of sadness, we should remain united in giving our support to the family and confidence to the authorities to do their jobs. Blaming it on concerned genuine individuals or government officials including ministers is not helpful in moving forward on the matter. We call on all parties and all government officials to work together on bringing this nation together. Any hint of racism or incitement to hate is not what we need now or ever. We need solidarity now, as Malaysians.

Al-fatihah
