Pusat KOMAS would like to congratulate all Malaysians, particularly the 12,299,514 million voters who have endured and overcome all the challenges faced during the 14th General Elections to come out and cast their vote. Despite the numerous attempts to tarnish the integrity and the fair process of the elections, Malaysians of various ethnicities and religious belief have managed to unite and triumph against all adversities to choose and select a new government.
Pusat KOMAS would like to also take this opportunity to congratulate Y.A.B Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for his appointment as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia and for the naming of some ministers. We remind the new government to take progressive steps to ensure selection of Ministers is to be made based on competencies rather than ethnicity or religious belief, as was before in our long history.
We hope that the new government under his leadership would adhere to their commitment to promote equality and non-discrimination by combatting institutional racism in the nation. We hope that the Pakatan Harapan government would fulfil their promises outlined in their manifesto to make all efforts to end racism and racial discrimination in Malaysia particularly through ratification of the International Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).
Pusat KOMAS and the Working Group on the Ratification of ICERD (ICERD-WG) would like to wish the new government all the best and would stand ready as patriots of Malaysia to work together with the new government in building a better Malaysia.
