Petaling Jaya, Malaysia: FREEDOMFILMFEST(FFF), an annual human rights film festival organised by Malaysian human rights NGO, Pusat KOMAS, is now calling for film entries.

Established in 1993, with the running theme, “Dare To Document”, FFF is the most established annual human rights film festival in Malaysia and showcases a variety of eye opening, daring, award winning films that are not easily accessible on mainstream media.

This festival is the birthplace of many Malaysian activists and social filmmakers and have always focused on highlighting issues that are of relevance to Malaysia as well as our neighbours in South East Asia region and internationally.

The theme for this year is Freedom and we will be accepting documentaries and short film entries from now till July 2014.

Award categories include Best SEA Human Rights Film, Best Malaysian Film, Best Short Film and The Freedom Award for best amateur or community film.

Malaysian filmmakers who have a film idea and need some financial support can submit their ideas to The Malaysian Pitch whereby if their idea is short listed they will get to pitch their idea to a panel of judges and stand to win up to RM6000 to complete their film. Deadline to submit their ideas is 21 April, 2014.

Last year, FFF received more than 250 entries from all over the world and screened over 50 films in 6 states across Malaysia and also in Singapore, Indonesia, Burma and Cambodia.
