We are pleased to announce the “5th National Conference: Saying No to Racial Politics” as a follow up from the last 4 years. Similar to the previous conferences, the conference will bring together people from different sectors including the civil servants to discuss and critically analyze different issues on non-discrimination.

This year, KOMAS together with Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the National Integration Research and Training Institute (IKLIN), National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) is organizing the conference with a more specific theme focusing on racial politics.

The objectives of the conference are:

  • To provide an open multi-stake holder platform to have constructive discussions on race based politics and propose forward looking ideas on promoting new politics in Malaysia.
  • To affirm and appreciate some of the best political models that exist in world that can be replicated in Malaysia and the global standards of anti-racism that exist
  • To have a deeper understanding of the current situation of racial politics in Malaysia and where do we stand in the global context
  • To inspire a new thinking in Malaysia that can shift us away from racial politics

This year, we are planning to invite a few international speakers to share how ethnic-based policies and politics are detrimental to the development of the society. There will be three different panels discussing different topics during the conference as per attached programme.
